MIL DÍAS DE AMOR
Join our circle of Latine parents and caregivers seeking and finding help for their toddlers and young children in Denver, Larimer & Weld counties.
Mil Dias de Amor, which means 1000 Days of Love in English, is La Cocina’s treatment and prevention services program for Latine or Hispanic-identified children ages zero to six years old who need a little extra support to reach their development goals. If you live in one of these counties and can relate to any of the following statements, you are not alone; La Cocina may be able to help.

-
You are pregnant and feel frightened or confused by your feelings and the unexpected turns of your pregnancy and/or delivery.
-
You and/or your family feel overwhelmed and confused by your young child’s behavior(s).
-
You are concerned that your child is not developing as expected or similar to other children in their age group.
-
You fear that a frightening situation may have impacted your child’s social and emotional health, and you do not know what to do.
-
Someone has told you that something is not right, but they are not sure what it is or where to turn for help.
-
You have suffered the painful loss of an infant and/or young child, including during pregnancy.
MIL DÍAS DE AMOR IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING REFERRALS FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-5 YEARS OLD WHO NEED A NEURODEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING OR FULL EVALUATION IN LARIMER COUNTY.
If you suspect or have been told that your child needs to be assessed to determine what services they need, or if you are concerned your child needs additional support while getting ready for school but doesn’t know where to go, we invite you to complete our interest form to determine if your family qualifies for Spanish-language neurodevelopmental assessment in Larimer County.
La Cocina will always try to enroll as many families as possible; however, space is limited, so not all families who complete our Services Interest Form will be enrolled in Mil Dias de Amor. Please send us a text and/or call us at 970-232-0740 with your questions and/or concerns.
HOW DO I ENROLL IN THESE SERVICES?
Complete our Mil Días de Amor Services Interest Form below. Please complete the form in its entirety.
Registrations close when Mil Días programs and/or services are full.

-
How do I know what my child says to me when they behave in certain ways, and I don’t understand?

What tools do I need to be able to support my child as they grow?
-
What are the benefits of using these tools with my child and family?

WHAT IS A DOULA?

A Doula is often compared to a Partera, or someone in Latine culture who accompanies a person through their birthing journey, whatever that may be. La Cocina’s Doulas are Spanish-speaking caring professionals who offer culturally-affirming information and support before, during, and for a few months following your infant’s birth. Whatever your current experience, Doulas and birthing consultants at La Cocina are ready to listen.

For school-age youth and their families
Uninsured Latine families who live in La Cocina’s service regions and who need services for youth ages 7-17 years old may contact La Cocina to inquire about program enrollment availability and/or services. In particular, Latine LGBTQ+ youths and/or adults, including gender non-conforming, gender-fluid, genderqueer, transgender, and transitioning youth and/or adults who do not have health insurance or whose heart language is Spanish, are always welcome at La Cocina. Those of us who grew up in Latine cultures understand the pain associated with feeling outside of our cultura.
You are not alone! And regardless of what is happening outside of you, your cultura is alive in YOU.

La Cocina is proud to partner with Foothills Unitarian Church in their Be More Gay. Be More You. awareness-building campaigns and community groups centering the voices and power of queer-identified persons living in Northern Colorado. At La Cocina, we’re here for YOU and join you in solidarity to BE MORE GAY. BE MORE YOU! Sign up for the Be More Gay newsletter here.
When you give to La Cocina, you support the social and emotional needs of Latine immigrants and refugees, including birthing families, infants, children, youths and their families, and individuals whose primary language is Spanish and whose basic needs include healing their hearts and minds from the systemic, and multi-generational impacts of trauma and displacement.
If you seek change that transforms and heals our Latine communities, donate now to La Cocina.
